FOREST CHANGERS
New Zealand may be known for its All Blacks rugby team, but green is its unofficial color. From Abel Tasman to Waipoua, over 20 percent of the country is covered in national parks, forest areas, and reserves, containing an astounding variety of unspoiled landscape and vegetation.
Such areas are temperate and boast evergreen forests full of giant tree ferns, vines, and epiphytes. With an average annual rainfall of between 640 millimetres and 1,500 millimetres, it’s an ideal place for farming and horticulture.
Deer thrive in such vegetative habitats, but they’re farmed now to avoid deforestation as they are notorious tree munchers. Same for brushtail, which is an eco-friendly protein source benefiting both the preservation of the forest and your pet which, after eating this marsupial rich in omega-3, will see a boost in vitality.
